WHY INK IN LABELING IS IMPORTANT?

A surface-printed sticker in one color might serve as a simple label. It can even be as complex as a high-quality, multi-prior in method, specialized ink label for personal care products. These labels come in a variety of print methods, ink types, and performance specifications, and the inks used to create them are just as diverse as the labels themselves.

Solvent-based, water-based, and UV inks are frequently used for label printing. These inks can be applied to a number of the most popular label printing techniques, such as UV flexo, solvent gravure, UV rotary screen, UV litho or letterpress, and different digital printing techniques.

There are obvious benefits to each kind of ink and printing method. They are fixed by a crosslinking process, and UV-curable inks and coatings have good chemical and temperature resistance.

Similar to adhesiveness to films, solvent-based inks are typically the best option due to their solvent concentration and subsequent low surface tension. Digital printing can be used to create labels with different forms within a single, relatively short run, while gravure printing is most frequently employed for long runs.

Despite the possibility of distinct favorites in each category, each type of ink has a wide performance window, and there is frequently a large degree of capability overlap between different processes. This means that most label applications can be used with most inks and print techniques.
